Patriot Principal's Corner

Mrs. Cynthia Dixon, Principal

Welcome to Lewisburg Elementary! I am thankful for the opportunity to serve as the principal of this amazing school!

My family and I are all life-long residents of DeSoto County, specifically the Lewisburg area. I have watched Lewisburg grow and prosper into the beautiful, eclectic community that we have today. As a vested community member and parent, I know and embrace the importance of a quality education for every child.

I have had the privilege to work with the children of DeSoto County Schools for the past 26 years. As a 16 year veteran teacher, I worked with hundreds of students who inspired me to be the educator that I am today. For the past 10 years I have had the joy of being an assistant principal at Shadow Oaks Elementary, Lewisburg Primary School and Oak Grove Central School, as well as, the principal of Greenbrook Elementary. I also taught at the collegiate level at the University of Memphis.

My educational background has afforded me the opportunities that I have today. At Mississippi State University, I earned a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Elementary Education. Once I started teaching, I pursued a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction and a Specialist degree in Administration from The University of Mississippi.

I am married to Jarrod Dixon and share two boys, Tye and Jace Dixon. Tye is a graduate of Lewisburg High School and is currently attending Mississippi State University. Jace is currently a junior at Lewisburg High school. My niece, Lydia Harris is also a graduate of Lewisburg High School and is enrolled in the nursing program at Christian Brothers University.

If it were not for the quality foundation received at the Olive Branch Schools, I would not be where I am today. It is my goal to provide an even better experience for our children. Every child is unique. I cannot wait to make our Patriots feel loved and accepted, while promoting their academic success.

Dr. Angelia Roop, Asst. Principal

With twenty-nine years’ experience in education, I have been an administrator for nineteen years and am excited about being back with the team at Lewisburg Elementary School as Assistant Principal for the second year.

I earned a Doctoral degree from the University of Mississippi in Educational Leadership. I also have a Specialist’s degree and a Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, as well as a Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Mississippi.

Having taught a wide variety of math courses for grades 7-12 and served as an administrator of all grades in the k-12 setting, my last administrator role was as Assistant Superintendent of the Senatobia Municipal School District. In that role, I worked with federal programs, state testing, k-12 curriculum and instruction, and many other facets of education. I have also taught and been a math coach in the DeSoto County Schools.

I am married to Tim Roop, and we have one daughter, Jasmine, who is married to Matthew Sorrell. Matthew and Jasmine currently live in Maryland where Jasmine recently finished her doctoral internship at Johns Hopkins Kennedy Krieger Institute in Psychology, and Matthew is a Computer Engineer. Tim and I have a yorkie, LeLe, and an adopted stray cat, Grayson, that I love! We attend Longview Point in Hernando where I lead a weekly ladies' bible study and am actively involved in church.

It has been an honor to spend my life working in education systems, and I get no greater joy than to see children grow, learn, and be successful. I look forward to serving another year alongside the wonderful Patriot community and contributing to the positive educational experiences of all students.
