 We will be doing an in depth review of all skills this week in order to prepare for the upcoming MAAP state tests. WE will MAAP test May 2nd and 3rd. 

PLEASE HAVE YOUR CHILD AT SCHOOL EACH DAY AND ON TIME!!!!

 

 

Chapter 13/14 test: TBA (after state testing the week of May 7th) 

Rounding rap:

Find that place value and circle that digit

Move to the right and underline, get it?

If it's a 0-4 circle stays the same, 5-9 add one to the game

Flex your muscles, like a hero, digits to the right all change to a ZERO

all other digits stay the same,

wow you're a winner at the rounding game!

 

Properties of addition/multiplication: Commutative, Associative, and Identity

Commutative- "flip flop" property  7+3=3+7 or 7x3=3x7

Associative- "playground property"  (7+3)+4=7+(3+4) or (2x6)x5=2x(6X5)

Identity- "ID doesn't change" 7+0=7 or 5x1=5

Zero Property of MULTIPLICATION 5x0=5

 

Factors- 2 numbers multiplied to make a product (we call them factory workers) Think about 12.... 1x12   2x6   3x4   then try 4, but its already listed so

 

WHEN YOU FIND A FACTOR THAT'S ALREADY THERE, DRAW SOMETHING A HORSE CAN WEAR! (Horseshoe) check your remind messages for a pic :)

 

Multiples- numbers you get as a redult of any number multiplied by another number 

ex. multiples of 12: 0,12,24,36,48,60,72.....  (skip count) 

(to the tune of of Skip to my Lou)

Skip count, that's what I do (3x)

To find the multiples that's what I do!

WE will continue to learn about Life cycles of plants and animals

There is not a text book for science, but we will be using online resources that will be listed here. Brainpop.com and studyjams.com are 2 sites we will utilize. 

 

 

 

We watch several instructional videos from studyjams.com and brainpop.com as well as brainpopjr.com. This requires listening skills as well as provides students an interesting video on topics we are learning about. Feel free to have your child watch videos on these sites. We often take quizzes on the videos after we have viewed and discussed them several times.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Most of the grades your child receive in Science will depend on him/her reading and answering questions about a passage or material that we have covered in class as well as a few projects.
